This 4-mile hike along the northern shore of Lake Crescent is a trail
rich in both beauty and history. In order to transport the logs to a mill
in Port Angeles, a railroad had to be built around the lake since there
were no roads. Finished in less than five months, the 36-mile railroad
forged through thick forests and blasted through solid rock to accommodate
the two tunnels that were built along the route.
